Post doctoral position in probabilistic machine learning for microbial genome recovery and exploration, Aalborg University, Denmark

Applicants are invited for a post doctoral position in probabilistic machine learning

As a post doctoral researcher you will develop probabilistic machine learning models and algorithms for representation learning and exploration of large heterogeneous data sets, covering sequenced microbial DNA fragmens as well as auxiliary data sources on relevant environmental factors.

You will be part of an exciting, cross-disciplinary and collaborative project, focusing on developing methods for improving our understanding of the microbial communities in our environments. These communities play a vital role in most processes in the biosphere and are essential for solving present and future environmental challenges. In the project, you will be involved in uncovering and exploring how environmental factors influence microbial genome diversity as well as improving the recovery rate of microbial genomes from complex microbial communities.

The position is part of the VILLUM Synergy project Illuminating microbial dark matter through data science and you will be affiliated with the Department of Computer Science at Aalborg University (AAU), Denmark. The project is inherently cross-disciplinary and you will work closely with researchers from bioscience (http://albertsenlab.org/) and be involved in joint PhD supervisions. The project is a follow-up project on the Data Science meets Microbial Dark Matter project.

The postdoc position is initially for one year, with the possibility of an extension for up to 3 years based on mutual agreement.
